When is a SWMS required in NSW?

Under the NSW WHS Regulation, a SWMS is mandatory for any of the 18 High Risk Construction Work (HRCW) activities.

What must be included in a NSW SWMS?

A SWMS in NSW must identify the HRCW, state the hazards and risks, describe the control measures, and explain how they will be implemented.

Do workers need to be consulted?

Yes. Consultation with workers is a legal requirement in NSW. You must develop the SWMS in consultation with the workers who will be carrying out the HRCW.
